Private equity (PE) players with Southeast Asian portfolio companies have grappled with the worst year as exit leeways narrowed in 2023. According to a Bain report, the region saw exit deal value dive as much as 60% to $2.8 billion in 2023. Exit count fell 70% from 21 deals in 2022 to six in 2023, even as Singapore continued to be a hotspot for deal-making.
