Japan’s NTT Docomo sets up digital advertising JV with Dat Viet

Japan’s mobile operator NTT Docomo has teamed up with Vietnamese media firm Dat Viet to launch a digital out-of-home (DOOH) advertising joint venture, Vie Board, per an announcement.

NTT Docomo will hold a 49% interest in the joint venture, which is expected to be formally established next month, while Dat Viet and its subsidiary DatVietOOH will own the remaining share. The joint venture has $1.2 million in total assets.

It will create an impression-based DOOH advertising business, including media management, planning, sales, and distribution, combining Docomo’s data-science technology with DatViet and DatVietOOH’s DOOH media in city centers, railway stations, and train cars in Vietnam.

Vie BOARD will use the resulting metrics to streamline DOOH media planning, advertisement placement, impact measurement, and analysis.

Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui backs S64’s Series A funding

Japan-listed trust bank group Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings has backed the Series A funding of London-based global alternatives fintech S64, according to an announcement.

Sumitomo joined HPS Investment Partners, a credit-focused alternative investment firm, in the funding round.

S64 did not disclose the amount it raised in the round. The firm works with asset managers and private banks across private equity, credit, real estate, infrastructure, and impact investments to develop solutions for wealth managers.

The Series A funding followed S64’s seed round, which was led by AltamarCAM Partners and backed by Street Capital and ACE & Company, among others.

BlackRock, Dash Living join first multifamily acquisition in Japan

US investment firm BlackRock and Asian rental housing platform Dash Living have teamed up to invest in an upscale multifamily asset in Japan.

The two have acquired a  29-unit property in Higashi Komagata, Tokyo, a location offering easy access to multiple central business districts.

Japan was on course to achieve the government’s goal of topping the pre-pandemic figure of 32 million annual foreign visitors by 2025, and the collaboration aimed at transforming residential buildings into flexible accommodations for business and leisure travelers in the country, Dash Living said in a statement.

This latest collaboration with BlackRock’s Real Estate business adds to Dash Living’s expanding portfolio to its 15th location in Japan.
