Following the ban on social commerce, the Indonesian government has published detailed documents on the new regulations concerning business licensing, advertising, guidance, and supervision of trading business actors via electronic systems.

In a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan said social commerce platforms like TikTok Shop have been given a one-week grace period to comply with the new regulations.

The minister also said the regulations aim to level the playing field between conventional/offline sellers and online sellers, especially micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
