Singapore-based venture capital investor Granite Asia has announced the appointment of two partners for credit solutions while Vertex Ventures general partner Carmen Yuen has left the firm.
Granite Asia names new partners for private credit strategy
Venture capital firm Granite Asia, formerly GGV Capital Asia, has announced the appointment of Ming Eng and Roger Zhang as its new partners for credit solutions.
In a LinkedIn post, the multi-asset investment platform said Eng and Zhang will be based in Singapore to spearhead the firm’s private credit strategy. Granite Asia said the appointments will strengthen its ability to offer tailored private credit financing to companies across the region.
Eng brings more than 20 years of experience in private credit and capital markets, having previously served as managing partner at Orion Capital Asia.
Zhang, on the other hand, joins from Blackstone Credit, where he led credit investments across Asia. He previously held positions at Partners Group and Goldman Sachs, bringing 18 years of experience in structuring financing solutions.
Granite Asia manages $5 billion in assets across the Asia-Pacific region. The firm’s impressive portfolio includes investments in 48 companies valued at over $1 billion each and has facilitated 30 successful IPOs.
Vertex Ventures GP Carmen Yuen exits firm
Carmen Yuen, general partner at Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India has announced her departure after more than 11 years with the company.
Yuen, who made the announcement in a LinkedIn post, said she will transition to an advisory role in 2025. “As with many things in life, seasons and life stages change; hence today will mark my last day as a Vertex staff,” Yuen wrote.
She joined Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India in 2014. Her focus is on Singapore and Southeast Asia, leading investments and helping portfolio founders grow their companies into regional and global champions.
Yuen also sits on the board of many of several portfolio companies of the firm and works closely with founders on the companies’ strategies including fundraising, recruitment, and market penetration.
She has served many years in Singapore’s government-backed venture capital initiatives including EDB Investments and Spring SEEDS Capital where she worked closely with many start-up companies in Singapore.
