In Indonesia, tech companies are exploring opportunities in emerging industries such as AI and electric vehicles. GoTo has launched ‘Dira by GoTo AI’, a fintech voice assistant in Bahasa Indonesia, while IMOTO has launched its flagship EV motorcycle brand VISION.ev.

GoTo taps into AI

Indonesia’s GoTo introduced its long-term artificial intelligence (AI) programme called GoTo AI, which will develop and embed the latest AI technology throughout the GoTo ecosystem, the company said on Tuesday.

The company has launched ‘Dira by GoTo AI’, an AI-enabled fintech voice assistant in Bahasa Indonesia. Dira is currently accessible on the GoPay app for a limited number of users and will be rolled out further before being made available on the Gojek app in the future. With Dira, users can give voice commands such as electricity bill payments, money transfers, phone credit purchases, and PIN changes.

For instance, users can make payment for insurance bills, which usually requires three clicks and several scrolls, in a single step via voice command. Dira also streamlines navigation within the GoPay app, making it easier to find new features without manual typing or searching.

Dira doesn’t significantly increase the size of the lightweight GoPay app, allowing it to be used on all types of mobile phones, including those with limited capacity, at no cost.

“The GoPay app was designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind, in line with our mission to provide financial services for Indonesians from all levels of society including the country’s 97 million unbanked adults,” said Hans Patuwo, GoTo COO in a statement.

Today, we are taking simplicity and accessibility one step further with the unveiling of Dira on the GoPay app, a first-of-its-kind AI-based voice assistant in Indonesia’s financial technology industry,” Patuwo added.

IMOTO launches EV motorcycle

Indonesia-based two-wheeler EV company IMOTO launched its flagship brand called VISION.ev, an electric motorcycle targeting over 75% Domestic Component Level (TKDN) on Tuesday.

The electric two-wheeler boasts a fast-charging battery that charges from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes, has a 5.7 kWh battery capacity, and offers a range of up to 160 km with a top speed of 105 km/h. It also features advanced digital options such as a touch screen, an infotainment system, keyless entry, and apps for tracking, geofencing, and fleet management.

IMOTO is also expanding its fast-charging infrastructure by planning to instal 200 public fast-charging stations at strategic urban and intercity locations in the first phase of its rollout.

The company aims to achieve Zero Carbon status by 2035 through continuous innovation in fast-charging battery technology and eco-friendly products. Committed to sustainability, IMOTO prioritises using local materials, creating jobs, and nurturing local talent while developing global EV products.

“With the various advantages we offer in VISION.ev, we believe this environmentally friendly product will address key consumer concerns about EVs, such as fast charging, battery life, long-distance capability, and performance. This will help accelerate EV adoption. VISION.ev is also the answer for those seeking innovation and sustainability in their driving experience,” said Doddy Lukito, co-founder of IMOTO in a statement.
