Indonesian loyalty platform GetPlus will cease operations from December 6, 2024, the company announced on social media.
“Thank you, for the 5-year journey. On behalf of the entire GetPlus team, we are very proud of the relationship we have built together, and we truly appreciate your loyalty and participation with GetPlus merchants,” the company stated. “With a heavy heart, we must part ways because GetPlus will cease operations on December 6, 2024.”
The company said that customers can still use the app for receipt scanning, buying points, and converting points until October 20, 2024. “After October 21, 2024, all earning activities will be stopped,” the company concluded.
The startup’s backer, GDP Venture, a venture capital owned by Djarum Group, declined to comment on the matter.
GetPlus was established on Feb 21, 2019. It was led by Adrian Hoon (COO/CMO) and Antonny Liem (CEO), who also serves as a founding partner at GDP Venture.
GetPlus is a coalition loyalty programme that allows users to accumulate points from purchases made at partnered merchants. These points can be earned through shopping in-store or online, scanning receipts, or engaging in promotional activities. Users can then redeem their collected points for various rewards, such as discounts, products, or services, across a network of partnered merchants.
This coalition model differs from existing loyalty programs such as the single-brand model (e.g., Starbucks Card) or the close-loop model (e.g., MAP Club). The approach is designed to provide sustainable value for merchants, consumers, and operators. At the same time, it helps brands acquire new customers, drive retention, and increase spending.
GetPlus competes with Singapore-based ShopBack and Snapcart in the loyalty platform market in Indonesia.
In Mar 2024, ShopBack laid off 195 employees, representing 24% of its workforce. Founded in 2014, the company oversees 11 markets, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Australia, South Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and Germany.
