Beijing-headquartered robot developer HachiBot has raised ‘tens of millions of US dollars’ in its pre-A funding round led by Northern Light Venture Capital, it said in a WeChat post.
Plum Ventures, Microsoft China’s former vice president Harry Shum and Kuwo Music Box’s founder Ming Lei have also invested in the round.
HachiBot, co-founded by Zhenyu Chen in December 2019, develops household-driven intelligent quadruped robots.
“We are developing our first intelligent quadruped robot for emotional companionship,” said Chen in the statement, “and it is expected to make a debut by 2021.”
