Shenzhen Berxel Technology Co., Ltd, an optoelectronic semiconductor solutions provider backed by state-owned Legend Holdings, has garnered approximately 100 million yuan ($14 million) in a Series A+ round of financing led by existing investor Vision Knight Capital, an internet service-driven private equity firm, according to a company statement on Monday.
Investment management firm Hongtai Aplus has also joined the round. Its existing investors include Legend Star and Leaguer Group, a technology innovation services platform of Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen.
Founded by Dr. Ruihua Chang, an academician in U.S. National Academy of Engineering & a vice president of The Optical Society of America, Berxel engages in novel optoelectronic technologies to cater to the semiconductor industry, including semiconductor lasers, laser drivers, and other optoelectronic devices.
Its proprietary chip vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) enables 3D sensor-based sectors to better improve efficiency, as well as to keep ultra-low-power such as smart home and AR & VR.
Previously, in 2019, Berxel had secured an undisclosed Series A round funding from Legend Holdings, Legend Star, Vision Knight Capital, Leaguer Angel, Qingsong Fund, TusStar, and Summitview Capital.
