Wittaya Aqua, an aquaculture platform headquartered in Singapore and Canada, has raised $2.8 million in a seed round. In a separate development, MON Protocol, a Web3 intellectual property (IP) and games publisher, has launched a venture fund.
Wittaya Aqua raises seed funding
Singapore- and Canada-based aquaculture platform Wittaya Aqua has raised $2.8 million in seed funding to develop its feed-to-farm platform and expand its reach into the Asia Pacific region, per a report in TechCrunch.
Investors including Yield Lab Asia Pacific, SEEDS Capital, Future Planet Capital, Conservation International Ventures, and SeaAhead Blue Angels participated in the round.
Wittaya integrates different information streams from farmers, feed mills, and ingredient suppliers into one platform, and works with major aquafeed and integrated farming clients in more than ten countries.
“We were first founded in Canada, but our vision is global, and Asia is a key part of the equation. … The [Asia] region is the global leader in aquaculture production, contributing a significant portion of the world’s seafood,” Evan Hall, co-founder and CEO of Wittaya Aqua, told TechCrunch. “While Southeast Asia boasts high production, there’s immense potential for further growth through data-driven practices.”
MON Protocol launches venture fund
MON Protocol, a Web3 intellectual property (IP) and games publisher, has announced the launch of MON Ventures, an investment fund led by 500 Global, according to a report on e27.
The fund aims to support blockchain gaming studios globally and invest in seed and pre-Token Generation Event (TGE) stage blockchain applications, particularly those focusing on gaming and infrastructure.
Beyond providing direct funding to Web3 gaming studios and startups, MON Ventures plans to foster collaborations within the blockchain ecosystem.
MON Protocol is helmed by a team of former senior executives from companies such as Ubisoft, Sony, Activision, Warner Media, Bandai Namco, and Electronic Arts.
