SE Asia-focused private equity firm AIGF Advisors Pte has made a significant investment in Berjaya CKE International
Sdn. Bhd, a Malaysian commercial kitchen equipment provider, according to an announcement.

Transaction details were not disclosed. CKE said the investment will help with its growth plan and strengthen its internal processes. The company manufactures its products in Malaysia and markets them under its brand, Berjaya, in over 40 countries.

AIGF Advisors, which is sponsored by Mitsubishi Corporation, provides growth capital for small/mid-cap companies in SE Asia.

“With their [AIGF’s] strong network across sectors and with access to Mitsubishi Corporation’s networks, we look forward to enhancing our service offering, developing better solutions to better serve our existing clients, and expanding to onboard new clients into the Berjaya CKE network,” said Chong Kok Fai, CEO of Berjaya CKE.

“We are now seeing an increasingly competitive F&B landscape, with evolving and more demanding customer requirements,” said Daniel Yong, Partner at AIGF.

In 2022, the PE firm closed its second fund, AIGF II LP, at 17.3 billion yen ($126 million). This second vehicle continues to support small and middle market companies in the region. In Malaysia, AIGF Advisors exited supermarket chain Jaya Grocer in 2021. AIGF can leverage Mitsubishi Corporation’s extensive global business network and know-how to create and add value for its portfolio companies.
