It is not everyday that you hear of a venture capital firm mandating its companies not to announce their funding in the media. Orios Venture Partners is one such seed-stage investment firm that has been flying under the radar with no new investments announced in the last couple of years, despite adding eight startups to its portfolio in 2016 alone. In an interview to DEALSTREETASIA, prolific angel investor and managing partner at Orios Rehan Yar Khan said that only when the startups are in a position to implement a structured media strategy should they announce any funding. Launched in 2013, Orios counts Ola, Pretty Secrets, Druva, Yumist, and Sapience in his portfolio, and plans to invest in around 10 companies annually. Edited excerpts
