People Digest: StanChart, Vontobel Asset make top Asia hires; Carlyle promotes Sunil Kaul

American banker Standard Chartered has hired Harry Lai from Barclays as Market Head of Greater China North Asia (GCNA) in its private banking and wealth management division. This follows a series of recent hires in the segment by the banker. Meanwhile, US-based Vontobel Asset Management has appointed Suzanna Wong as Head of Intermediary Sales in Asia. Also, in another move global alternative asset management firm The Carlyle Group has promoted Sunil Kaul as a Partner in Southeast Asia from a Managing Director in its Asia buyout advisory team, one of the 62 promotions that the firm announced recently.
