Telstra-backed startup accelerator muru-D has appointed Craig Dixon as their new Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) in their Singapore accelerator, in order to guide its next cohort of startups from around Southeast Asia.
Dixon co-founded the Singapore-based travel technology company Zumata Technologies in 2010 and has since raised three rounds of investor funding from the likes of Wavemaker Partners and 500 Startups.
murk-D co-founder Annie Parker said, “We’re excited to bring someone into the muru-D family who has such incredible experience, both in the startup space and from the investor side too – this first-hand knowledge will be invaluable to our next cohort of startups.”
According to a blog post by the accelerator, Dixon will lead the mentorship of muru-D’s second cohort of startups, providing guidance and support to accelerate their growth. Before his entrepreneurial career, Dixon had worked at Citigroup and Bank of America Merrill Lynch in a sales role and wealth consulting role respectively.
Speaking on his recruitment, Dixon shared: “I’m delighted to be joining the muru-D family in Singapore. The team has put a huge amount of work into developing the ecosystem already and I can’t wait to help make it even better. Having the continued support of Telstra behind us too is such a strong selling point.”
He continued: “Having spent my past six years in Singapore and Hong Kong in the startup space, I’ve seen a lot of creativity and growth coming from across Southeast Asia, especially in some developing countries where the growth of middle class is rapid and access to the internet has massively improved. I look forward to work with a group of talented startups in the region in our second cohort.”
muru-D Singapore is currently seeking applications for its second cohort.
As per normal investment terms, 10 successful startup ventures will each receive S$40,000 seed capital through the program, as well as access to a menagerie of mentors, coaches and Telstra professionals, in addition to dedicated office space at muru-D Singapore’s premise at Amoy Street.
