Z47, Lightspeed co-lead $5m funding in Emversity and other India deals

Beyond Odds Technologies, the parent company of skill-based training and higher education platform Emversity, on Wednesday announced that it has raised $5 million in its its pre-Series A funding round led by Z47 and Lightspeed.

The funding also saw participation from Alteria Capital and Innoven Capital, the startup said in a statement.

Since its seed round last year, Emversity claims to have expanded its footprint to 36 campuses across 18 Indian states and plans to extend to end the current financial year with 75+ campuses. The company has raised a total of $16 million till date, include a seed round of $11 million led by Lightspeed and Z47 (formerly Matrix Partners) last year.

Launched by former Unacademy COO Vivek Sinha in April 2024, Emversity is a skill-based training and recruitment platform for grey-collar roles in sectors like healthcare, travel and hospitality, education, and construction. The company runs two programmes– SMART and EDGE–offering vocational and honours degree options in partnership with higher education institutions.

Under the Emversity School of Allied Health Sciences, students train for roles such as nurses, therapists, caregivers, OT technicians, lab technicians, paramedics, and other allied-health professionals. The newly launched Emversity School of Hospitality has partnered with two hotel chains to offer skill-based training in rooms, F&B service, and culinary.
