EastSpring, Siam Commercial Bank among winners of Investing in Women LP Award 2024

Recognising the work of limited partners leading the way with gender-diverse teams across Southeast Asia, The Investing in Women LP Award 2024, an initiative by the Australian Government, Wednesday announced the winners of its inaugural awards.

In the asset manager category, EastSpring Investments bagged the award while Siam Commercial Bank attained the top place in the commercial bank category. Ayala Corporation emerged as the best corporate investor and the Employees Provident Fund bagged the best public pension fund award.

The winners of the award represent a substantial portion of the capital being deployed in Southeast Asia’s venture capital markets. This sector continues to grow rapidly as global investors seek opportunities in this dynamic region, The Investing in Women LP Award 2024 said in a statement.

Eligible participants for the award include asset managers, pension funds, corporate investors, sovereign wealth funds, and commercial banks headquartered in Southeast Asia, specifically those investing in venture capital funds focusing on the region.

With billions of dollars in assets under management, these organisations are well-positioned to influence market trends and drive significant economic impact, the statement added.

The award is supported by Investing in Women (IW), an initiative of the Australian Government that focuses on catalysing inclusive economic growth through women’s economic empowerment, Propelevate, a consulting firm specialising in gender lens investing, and Preqin, a provider of data and insights for the alternative assets industry.

“Building a diverse team is an actionable strategy that delivers economic results while advancing gender equality. We’re thrilled to support this initiative, which underscores institutional investors’ crucial role in promoting equality and driving sustainable growth,” said Hannah Birdsey, CEO of Investing in Women.
