KKR consortium starts sale process for Metro Pacific Hospital

A consortium led by private equity major KKR & Co has reportedly initiated the sale process for its entire stake in Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings, the largest private hospital group in the Philippines.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the deal could value the Philippine hospital network at around $3 billion. The KKR-led consortium acquired a 42.5% stake in Metro Pacific Hospitals for $684.5 million in 2019.

The investment deferred the hospital network’s proposed $1.6-billion initial public offering plan and saw Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC restructuring its holding to join the consortium.

According to the report, the US private equity firm is also in initial talks with Metro Pacific Investments Corp, the original owner of Metro Pacific Hospitals, to discuss buying a stake in the healthcare provider.

Metro Pacific Hospitals is the operator of the largest private hospitals and healthcare network in the Philippines. It holds interests in at least 24 hospitals, many of which are among the country’s largest and most modern, including the Makati Medical Center and Manila Doctors Hospital.

Indonesia’s Komerce acquires shipping cost platform RajaOngkir

Komerce, an end-to-end solutions provider for e-commerce businesses in Indonesia, has announced its acquisition of RajaOngkir, a real-time shipping cost calculation and API integration platform.

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, but Komerce co-founder and CEO Nofi Bayu Darmawan said it was a share swap deal. RajaOngkir has been downloaded more than 5 million times on Playstore and is used by thousands of companies, per the announcement.

“The merger with RajaOngkir is an important step for Komerce to continue growing and evolving, particularly in sharpening our strategy and penetration in the shipping and logistics sector,” Darmawan said.

Komerce was founded in 2020 to provide a complete solution for SMEs’ operations end-to-end, from e-commerce development, shipping aggregation, e-fulfillment, and others.
