Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas, the Philippine-based regional guild partner of a16z Crypto-backed YGG, has announced its acquisition of AI education platform 10XME for an undisclosed amount.
The acquisition will see 10XME’s professional courses, which include improving productivity using AI tools and applications, integrated into the offerings of Web3 Metaversity, the educational programme of YGG Pilipinas, per the announcement.
10XME, founded in June 2023 by Miggy Azurin and Bianca Cruz, has worked with companies such as Coins.ph, Globe, and Microsoft to improve competency with emerging AI technologies, such as large language models (LLMs).
The co-founders will be joining the Web3 Metaversity team to help the programme deliver quality AI courses to Filipinos. Cruz formerly led business development at the Philippine crypto exchange Moneybees while Azurin co-founded the web3 media platform The Mega Maxi.
“Under YGG Pilipinas, we’ll have the resources and support needed to transform more lives and help people find success in their careers,” Cruz said.
Part of 10XME’s initiative that YGG will adopt into Web3 Metaversity is how AI can benefit a wide range of industries, from healthcare to agriculture, and even the average office environment.
The acquisition comes as the global AI market reached almost $197 billion in 2023, according to data from Horizon Grand View Research. The industry is also expected to open up 97 million new jobs by 2025.
“As we move into a world where AI is ubiquitous, the Filipino community needs relevant skills and education to help them take advantage of this economic opportunity,” said YGG Pilipinas Country Head Mench Dizon.
Web3 Metaversity seeks to empower and direct web3 gaming enthusiasts. Under the programme, students are taught the basics of cryptocurrency and income-earning opportunities in web3.
YGG Pilipinas, on the other hand, is the biggest supporter of web3 adoption in the Philippines. It is a community of gamers, creators, and traders working together to onboard more Filipinos to web3.
Last year, a16z Crypto, a web3-focused fund managed by US-based venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, joined a consortium of investors that backed the $13.8-million raise of YGG.
The raise, which was done through a token sale from the YGG treasury, was also participated by DWF Labs, Galaxy Interactive, Sangha Capital, and Sanctor Capital, according to the announcement.
