Meican, a Beijing-based venture offering digital food solutions to corporate clients, is set to tap new cities after amassing $170 million from French food services giant Sodexo and PE firm Centurium Capital late last year.
The company, which counts Alibaba Group, Baidu, Didi, Lenovo among its clients, is so far present in China’s four top-tier cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as well as emerging cities such as Chengdu, Chongqing and Hangzhou, its chief operating officer Zili Ren told DealStreetAsia.
“Despite the fact that our business suffered slightly during the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of 2020, overall we saw dramatical growth due to the quick recovery in the Chinese economy,” said Ren.
The company is now looking to acquire talent, develop its brand further and work on digital solutions, he added.
Established in 2011, Meican’s services include online booking, digital cafeteria, take-out menus, smart-locker solutions, among others.
