Aastha is a senior correspondent in DealstreetAsia for Indonesia-covering deals, M&A, investment news in indonesia mainly and Southeast Asia. 

Aastha started her career as a Television journalist with NDTV, one of India’s oldest broadcast media houses, where she covered banking and finance, after which she joined CNBC TV 18 in India in 2013. During her stint at CNBC, she extensively covered the 5600 cr National Spot Exchange Scam (financial scam). She also covered corporate sectors like power, infrastructure, deals, M&A, regulatory stories and tax during her CNBC stint. Her inclination towards learning new things has brought her close to business feature writing as well. After she moved to Indonesia in 2015, she started working as a contributing writer with the magazine, Forbes Indonesia featuring important businesses of Indonesia, including many global players making a mark here. She has also written opinion articles in the Jakarta Post.

Abhishek Chatterjee

Abhishek is a senior research analyst with DealStreetAsia. He is a versatile thinker, avid storyteller with a love for analytics & research, and is currently based in West Bengal, India. Before this, he was associated with The Hindu covering Technology for around 3 years.

Although having worked across multiple organisations like Cadbury, Cars24, as a sales & marketing professional, Abhishek, an MBA in marketing turned to be a journalist after pursuing business journalism from ACJ-Bloomberg. Abhishek is a music and cricket enthusiast. He loves watching and playing cricket and recording his own songs when not crafting stories.

Andi Haswidi

Head of Data Research

Based in Jakarta, Andi Haswidi is an accomplished researcher, journalist and author. Prior to his current role with DEALSTREETASIA, he was the head of Asean research for FT Confidential, a research unit of the Financial Times. He started his career as a journalist in 2005 when he joined Indonesia’s leading English newspaper, The Jakarta Post, where he later became a business editor. He also had a brief stint as a business editor for Tempo weekly magazine before switching to the field of research for the FT in 2013. Andi is a recipient of the British Chevening Scholarship, with a master’s degree in public policy from University of Bristol. His first book, KOPI: Indonesian Coffee Craft & Culture, was published in 2018 by Afterhours Books, with foreword by President Joko Widodo.

Angus Mackintosh

Consulting Editor, DealStreetAsia & Founder, CrossASEAN Research

Angus Mackintosh is a consulting editor with DealStreetAsia responsible for the monthly research reports on Southeast Asia’s (SEA) digital economy. Angus is also the Founder of CrossASEAN Research and publishes research on Smartkarma. With more than 30 years of covering Asian markets in Equity Sales and Research, he possesses in-depth knowledge of a wide range of companies, economies, and markets in Asia. For the last 10 years has mainly focused on South-East Asia, and more recently included the digital economy in his coverage. Over his career, he specialised in HK/China and ASEAN markets at various different Investment Banks, laterally heading equities in Indonesia for Bank of America Merrill Lynch in Jakarta before becoming an Independent analyst in 2016.

Eudora Wang

Deputy Editor, Greater China

Eudora Wang is a Senior Reporter with DealStreetAsia, primarily tracking and covering the venture capital, private equity and the start-up ecosystem in Hong Kong and China.  

Eudora previously served as the Chief Reporter at Hong Kong-based online media outlet China Money Network, where she focused on technology innovation, smart investments and special situations in Greater China. Prior to China Money Network, Wang worked with Bloomberg Businessweek (Beijing) and Hunan TV Station, China.

She has a Master’s degree in International Journalism Studies from Hong Kong Baptist University and a Bachelor’s degree in Radio & Television from Xi’an International Studies University, China.

Joji Thomas Philip

Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Joji Philip is the founder & editor-in-chief of DealStreetAsia, now a Nikkei Group-owned company. He is a 24×7 information enthusiast and leads a pan-Asia team of reporters, editors and executives in marketing, sales, events and subscriptions. Joji moved to Singapore in 2013 to launch the international edition of Indian business daily Mint (owned by Hindustan Times), and founded DealStreetAsia a year later, as he saw a gap in the coverage of alternate assets space and funded startups in SEA. Over the years, the publication expanded its presence to India and the greater China region. DealStreetAsia is a subscription platform, and its ocus on editorial and data, exclusive deal breaks and big-picture coverage has helped it offer a differentiated product for its niche readers. During the last decade, the publication has been at the interaction of new economy and tech in Asia, thus making the deal ecosystem more visible and providing a competitive advantage to investors, founders and other players.

Prior to that, he was among the most prolific journalists in India, and chronicled the communications/telecoms segment, breaking some of the biggest stories in these sectors, during his tenure at The Economic Times and Business Standard. Corry Anestia

Senior Research Analyst, Indonesia

Corry is a Jakarta-based business journalist with 13 years of experience covering technology and telecommunications sector. In 2018, she shifted her coverage to startups and digital when she joined DailySocial.id. The shift led her to gain new experience in research, particularly in supporting report writing, such as startup funding and thematic papers. She has also worked for various news outlets, including Liputan6.com and Indonesia Finance Today Newspaper, covering business activities and corporate actions.

Deepshikha has over 19 years of experience in media and communication. She started her career as a business journalist with Business Standard and The Economic Times where she reported on information technology, retail and consumer goods. Prior to joining DealStreetAsia, she was a digital marketer at Honeywell, a Fortune 100 technology firm.

Ngoc Nguyen

Deputy Editor, Vietnam

Ngoc has over a decade of experience working in media and communication. She was DEALSTREETASIA’s Vietnam-based reporter during the 2015-2017 period, when she was a frequent moderator for local startup events. Ngoc also worked for Mekong Capital, Vietnam’s earliest private equity firm, as the company’s corporate communications officer, before she joined DEALSTREETASIA again in September 2018. Prior to DEALSTREETASIA and Mekong Capital, Ngoc was a financial markets reporter at Vietnam News, the first English-language publication in Vietnam. She was awarded Vietnam Startup Journalist of the Year 2016 by the ASEAN Ricebowl Startup Awards.

Joymitra Rai

Editor

Joymitra worked as a journalist for 13 years (2001-2014) before taking a career break to be with her family. She started her career as a sub-editor at Business Standard and then moved to The Economic Times in 2004. She also handled the national edition front page at ET.

While being a full-time mother, Joymitra took up freelance editing assignments and wrote on travel and lifestyle. Most recently, Joymitra worked as an Editor in Business and Finance at Cactus Communications, editing high-value research papers in economics, statistics, health, and sociology.

Joymitra enjoys travelling to discover new places and meeting new people.

Michelle is a journalist with nearly two decades of experience covering business and international affairs. 

She is deeply concerned about the growing gaps in the global economy and believes there is a need to reform capitalism for a more equitable and sustainable system.

She was part of Al Jazeera English’s global launch team in Kuala Lumpur, and her last role was Chief Editor at The Edge Singapore. Michelle obtained her Master of Science in International Relations at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies.

J Padmapriya is the news editor for DEALSTREETASIA. A business journalist with 15 years of experience in newsroom operations, she has spent close to a decade in India’s Economic Times and has served stints at VCCircle.com, Financial Express and Asian Age. As deputy editor of VCCircle.com in 2009-2011, she was responsible for the overall production of the website. She was among 12 journalists selected from India for the British Chevening scholarship (2005). She holds a PG degree in English literature from Delhi University and a PG diploma in journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.

Pimfha Chan is a Singapore-based reporter covering alternative assets in Asia, including private equity, private credit, and venture capital investments. With years of professional experience in fast-paced newsrooms, Chan has covered high-impact stories focusing on Asia Pacific’s real assets as well as M&A deals, and IPOs in the region.

Pramod Mathew

Pramod began his journalism career as a copy editor for The Economic Times in 2010. After a five-year stint at the paper, he joined Forbes India as its deputy head of desk, where he was trusted with data visualisation projects including for proprietary specials such as The Forbes India Rich List. 
 
Before joining DealStreetAsia, Pramod had a two-year stint with Quartz India as its desk editor. He contributed to the website’s coverage of the Indian economy and the country’s corporate sector.
 
He is an alumnus of the Asian College of Journalism, Chennai.

Pramugdha Mamgain

Pramugdha is the correspondent and content specialist for DEALSTREETASIA in India. She has over five years of experience in reporting and tracking financial news at the Economic Times, a stint as a writer for a travel portal and has also taught economics, marketing, journalism at an MBA programme faculty at Amity University, New Delhi. Pramugdha is a BA (Hons) in Economics from Delhi University. She did her post-graduate studies in economics and then in journalism (Times Centre of Media Studies, New Delhi) and also holds an MBA in finance from Symbiosis, Pune.

Quynh Nguyen

Quynh Nguyen is the Vietnamese consultant for DEALSTREETASIA. She is an enthusiastic journalist with a nose for news. She brings over three years of journalism experience to the team and has written hundreds of stories on Vietnam’s economy. Graduating from Vietnam’s Academy of Journalism and Communications, she joined Vietnam Economic Times as an economic reporter specializing in business, agriculture, startups and real estate. She also collaborated with several private companies in Vietnam as an interpreter. As a journalist, she is convinced that acumen and prudence are the two most important factors for a writer.

Stephanie Li

Stephanie is a Hong Kong-based reporter with DealStreetAsia, who covers the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, as well as the equity market and startup ecosystem in Hong Kong and China.

She is passionate to delve into the intertwining relationship of geopolitics and technology, and how innovations shape culture or rewire the ways people connect with each other.

Prior to joining DealStreetAsia, She was among the very last foreign journalist covering the world-watching changes within Myanmar after the 2021 military coup for KrASIA, including the junta’s digital surveillance, the implications of internet shutdown to individuals and businesses. She also reported extensively on Southeast Asia’s burgeoning tech scene.

Vibhuti Sharma

Vibhuti started her journalism career as a business correspondent with Reuters in Bangalore, India. During her 4-year long stint with Reuters, she extensively covered the U.S. technology sector including writing exclusives, interviews and breaking some of the biggest news in the sector. Prior to joining DealStreet Asia as a correspondent, Vibhuti briefly worked as a content specialist with investment advisory firm SA Global Advisors, where she learned more about the nitty-gritty of the world of deal-making. Julia assists with events and marketing at DealStreetAsia.

She is currently a Macquarie University student undertaking a double degree in law and professional accounting. Apart from being an active member of a number of societies at her university, Julia has successfully started her own society which she is currently presiding over.

Outside of her university commitments, Julia has had experience working in the food, hospitality, finance and administration.

In her spare time, she enjoys trying new foods, travelling and attending concerts.

Having worked as social media marketer for several brands in Indonesia, she has a brain and a heart for writing as well as creating meaningful social media contents. Rebekah Priya

Office Manager, Singapore

Rebekah is a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in the HR, operations, and finance industries. Before joining us, she was an office manager with Go Impact Capital Partners. She has also worked with Ai Palette and Seimpi School of Music. She is well-versed with a slew of software and products, including Monday.com, Xero, Volopay, Adobe, and Canva, and has done market research and handled Hubspot Marketing, data analytics and Mailchimp. Shradha, hailing from Assam, India, is a budding Account and Business Development Manager at DealStreetAsia. She holds a master’s degree in management with a major in Marketing from Singapore Management University. Prior to joining Deal Street Asia, Shradha served as an APAC Channel Marketing Intern at Formlabs, a leading 3D Printing developer and manufacturer.
