BII, Japan's Idemitsu Kosan jointly back SE Asian solar energy firm Skye Renewables

Development finance institution (DFI) British International Investment (BII) and Japanese energy company Idemitsu Kosan (IKC) have jointly invested an undisclosed amount in Skye Renewables Energy Pte Ltd. (Skye), a Southeast Asia-focused renewable energy platform.

This is BII’s first direct equity investment in Southeast Asia since re-entering the region in 2022.

Moreover, BII plans to make investment commitments worth $100 million in Southeast Asia this year, doubling from $50 million in 2023, Rohit Anand, BII’s regional head of Southeast Asia and head of infrastructure equity, told DealStreetAsia.
